…says it is suicidal for the people of Osun and unproductive for the state’s economy

The Advocacy for Strategic Alliance, Osun State Chapter, has reviewed the governorship manifesto presented by Mr. Bola Oyebamiji and hereby states its firm rejection of the document.

In the view of the Alliance, the manifesto is not a vision for Osun’s future. It is a direct threat to the state’s ongoing recovery. The document recycles the same policies and ideas that plunged Osun into debt, subjected workers to 30 months of half salaries, and left critical infrastructure to decay under the Oyetola administration.

Oyebamiji is not offering a fresh start. As former Commissioner for Finance and Managing Director of OSICOL, he is proposing a comeback of the same failed system he helped administer.

THE FACTS VERSUS THE FICTION IN OYEBAMIJI’S MANIFESTO

The Alliance calls on Osun people to judge Mr. Oyebamiji by his record in government, not campaign rhetoric:

1. Workers and Pensioners: The manifesto is silent on the hardship he oversaw. As Finance Commissioner, Oyebamiji was central to fiscal decisions that imposed 30 months of half salaries on civil servants. Pensioners were owed for years and gratuities unpaid. His administration replaced Permanent Secretaries with “Coordinating Directors,” destroying career progression and morale in the civil service.

2. Debt and Infrastructure: The manifesto conceals a legacy of borrowing without building. Under his stewardship, Osun’s debt ballooned. Billions were borrowed while rural roads collapsed and urban centres decayed. The state’s debt-to-revenue ratio worsened, choking capital projects. Osun witnessed this approach before. It resulted in abandoned projects and deeper debt.

3. Agriculture: The manifesto repeats unproven propaganda. As MD of OSICOL, Oyebamiji publicised 1,500 hectares of cocoa plantations. There remains no verifiable evidence of sustained yield, jobs, or state revenue from that project. During 12 years of APC rule in which he served, Osun farmers received zero tractors. Fertilizer distribution was politicised. Farmers understand the difference between press statements and tractors.

4. Education and Health: The manifesto ignores the institutional decay left behind. During his time in government, schools operated with leaking roofs and no chairs, while health centres lacked drugs, equipment, and staff. Exam performance declined. Citizens were forced to seek basic healthcare outside Osun. The manifesto offers no acknowledgment of these failures rejected by voters in 2022.

THE RECOVERY AT RISK: GOVERNOR ADELEKE’S RECORD

Governor Ademola Adeleke inherited a state in distress and chose to rebuild. The Alliance notes the following documented achievements now threatened by Oyebamiji’s manifesto:

1. Workers’ Welfare: Substantial portions of inherited salary and pension arrears paid. Financial benefits of overdue promotions settled. The “Coordinating Directors” system abolished and Permanent Secretary structure restored. Full salaries are now paid promptly.

2. Infrastructure: Over 350 kilometres of roads constructed or rehabilitated. Dual carriageways delivered in Iwo, Ede, Ilesa, and Ila Orangun. Overhead bridges completed in Osogbo and Ile-Ife. Rural water projects revived.

3. Agriculture: 31 new tractors with full implements delivered to farmers. Farm input support scaled up. Access roads to farm settlements graded to move produce to market.

4. Education and Health: Dilapidated schools were rebuilt and equipped. Teachers recruited and trained. Performance in WAEC and NECO improved. Primary health centres upgraded to international standards with drugs and personnel. Osun has been ranked first in Southwest healthcare delivery for two consecutive years, with a 1 million dollar performance prize.

5. Fiscal Discipline: Debt servicing burden reduced while capital spending increased. Revenue leakages blocked. Internally Generated Revenue improved without overtaxing citizens.

ALLIANCE POSITION

The Advocacy for Strategic Alliance, Osun State Chapter, hereby rejects Mr. Oyebamiji’s manifesto in its entirety. The document is a warning, not a plan. It is a blueprint to return Osun to half salaries, abandoned projects, politicised agriculture, and broken institutions.

The 2026 governorship election will be decided on records. Mr. Oyebamiji’s record damaged Osun. Governor Adeleke’s record is rebuilding it.

The Alliance calls on all Osun indigenes at home and abroad — traditional rulers, market leaders, youths, women, farmers, artisans, professionals, religious bodies, civil servants and pensioners — to mobilise for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

A vote for Oyebamiji’s manifesto is a vote to suffer again. A vote for Adeleke is a vote to keep Osun rising.

Osun has tested both models. The difference is clear. We will not go back.
