…Challenges Opposition to Produce Evidence or Apologise to Osun People

OSOGBO — The Advocacy for Strategic Alliance (ASA), Osun State Chapter, has dismissed as false and reckless the claim by the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, has been sold by the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

In a statement issued in Osogbo on Wednesday, the group described the allegation as “a deliberate falsehood designed to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension.”

“Let us be clear: Freedom Park is not for sale. No discussion has taken place to sell it. No transaction has occurred. No hidden arrangement exists,” the statement read.

ASA said the rumor was being peddled by “habitual propagandists whose political relevance depends on manufacturing confusion where there is none.”

The group challenged the opposition party to account for its performance while in power, asking: “Did they transform lives the way the current administration is doing? Did they prioritize workers’ welfare? Did they energize infrastructure development across towns and rural communities? Did they restore confidence in governance?”

“Osun people know the answer is no,” the statement added. “What the state witnessed under the APC was arrogance, political intimidation, economic stagnation, and leadership disconnected from the everyday struggles of the people. That era is gone, and the people are wiser now.”

ASA listed the Adeleke administration’s achievements as evidence of people-centered governance, including the rehabilitation of roads across all 30 Local Government Areas, prompt payment of workers’ salaries, renewed attention to pensioners, and the return of government presence to communities that were previously neglected.

“This is what frightens the opposition,” ASA stated. “Performance has exposed their emptiness. That is why they resort to rumors.”

The group challenged those spreading the Freedom Park claim to publish evidence. “If they claim any public property has been sold, let them publish the documents. Let them provide proof. Let them name dates, agreements, and buyers. Anything short of that confirms they are merchants of falsehood,” the statement read.

“Politics should be about alternatives, not anxiety. It should be about policy, not poison. If the opposition has ideas for Osun State, let them present them. If they have plans, let them speak on them. But if all they have are rumors and blackmail, then they should prepare for another rejection at the ballot box,” ASA added.

“Freedom Park remains where it is. It belongs to the people. It is not for sale. It has never been sold. It will not be sold. And no amount of coordinated lies can change that truth,” the statement concluded.
