Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has alleged that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) planted a tracking device under his vehicle during his recent visit to Port Harcourt.
The political activist revealed the discovery alongside video evidence showing a black, heavy-duty protective casing housing an active electronic tracking unit. In the footage, the recovered device displays multiple operational indicators, including visible status lights labeled for GPS, power (PWR), and cellular (CEL) connectivity.
According to statements accompanying the clip, the compact gadget was covertly affixed to the underside of Sowore’s vehicle before being detected and removed by his team. The physical setup featured a high-grade weatherproof container containing an internal battery pack to support long-term, real-time monitoring.
Sowore accused state security elements of conducting unauthorized surveillance and targeting key opposition figures ahead of national political activities.
As of the time of reporting, the DSS has not issued an official response regarding the allegations or the origin of the recovered device.
