Withheld Local Government Allocations: Oyetola and APC are Pathological Liars — Hon. Comrade James Onifade

In a display of political desperation, Alh. Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Governor of Osun State, has once again resorted to baseless accusations against Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Oyetola claims that Adeleke is spreading propaganda and falsehoods to cover up administrative failures and disregard for court rulings.

But let’s call this what it truly is: a shameless lie orchestrated by Oyetola and his All Progressives Congress (APC) cohorts to sabotage Adeleke’s administration and deprive the people of Osun of their constitutional rights.

Why are these people lying? It’s simple, all they’re doing is trying to destroy our dear Governor Adeleke’s political career while making the citizens of Osun suffer.

The ongoing dispute over withheld local government allocations, which Adeleke has repeatedly highlighted as amounting to over ₦131 billion since February 2025 is not some fabricated tale of misinformation as Oyetola would have you believe.

Instead, it’s a deliberate ploy by federal forces aligned with the APC to starve Osun’s local governments of funds, crippling essential services and leaving workers in dire straits.

I can say it emphatically: Oyetola and the APC don’t mean well for Osun. Their actions speak louder than any press release.

By interfering in the local government tussle, accusing Adeleke of public misinformation while ignoring court rulings that have sacked their illegally appointed officials shows they are actively holding the governor’s governance to ransom.

Adeleke has even dragged the federal government to the Supreme Court over these withheld funds, a move that underscores the severity of this federal overreach.

Yet, Oyetola’s aides dismiss these allegations as misleading, conveniently forgetting that council secretariats remain under illegal siege, enforced by police allegedly backing APC interests.

This is a direct attack on the welfare of Osun people. The APC insists their ousted LG chairmen are entitled to these allocations, but that’s just more smoke and mirrors to justify their lawlessness.

Adeleke has appealed directly to President Bola Tinubu for intervention, pointing out how these withheld funds are paralyzing local administration and causing untold hardship.

The more Oyetola and the APC push this narrative of “deceptive allegations”, the more the people of Osun are hating them. Their attempts to elongate tenures and cling to power through backdoor maneuvers are not going unnoticed.

Rigging cannot save you, APC people, because the international community is watching. With Osun’s citizens growing increasingly disillusioned by these tactics, and global eyes on Nigeria’s democratic processes, this charade will only hasten the APC’s downfall in the state.

Governor Adeleke’s administration continues to fight for transparency and the release of these funds, proving that true leadership prioritizes the people over petty politics. Oyetola and his party should stop the lies and start serving Osun or face the consequences at the ballot box.
