The message from Osun voters ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election is now unmistakable: political intimidation has no place in the state’s democracy.
Despite reported pressure tactics and high-handed maneuvers, the electorate has signaled a firm rejection of All Progressives Congress candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.
This outcome reflects a growing political maturity in Osun. Residents are no longer swayed by threats or manipulation. They have drawn a clear line: governance must be built on service, not force.
Let us be direct. AMBO, who previously served as Managing Director/CEO of the National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA, must now confront this reality. The voters’ verdict points him toward reflection and a reassessment of his political path.
Continued pressure tactics will only deepen public resentment and further distance him from the support he seeks.
Osun deserves leadership focused on real development: infrastructure, youth empowerment, quality education, healthcare, and sustainable economic growth. The people have chosen continuity, focus, and delivery over disruption and ego-driven politics.
To AMBO: The electorate has spoken. Cease all forms of pressure on voters and residents. Allow Osun to move forward under leaders chosen freely through the ballot.
As campaigns intensify, this moment should serve as a lesson to all political actors. The era of impunity and voter intimidation is fading. Osun’s electorate is awake, assertive, and decisive. They have demonstrated the power of the ballot. Wise politicians will listen.
The people have decided. It is time to respect that decision.
Signed:
