Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, popularly known as Ajagunla, has once again dragged the internal politics of Osun Central into the open with his claim that President Bola Tinubu was willing to grant him a return ticket on the APC platform, only for the party’s leader in Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola, to frustrate the arrangement.
Beyond the allegations and counter-allegations, one deeper question confronts every discerning voter: what does a politician do when loyalty is truly tested?
Ajagunla left the PDP for the APC believing his future was assured. He lost the APC senatorial primary to Rasheed Adegoke, SAN, and promptly returned to the PDP. This pattern of movement raises legitimate questions about consistency and principle.
Contrast this with the record of Aare Ganiyu Ayobami Olaoluwa Asejere. In the 2022 PDP Osun Central senatorial primary, Aare Ganiyu Ayobami Olaoluwa Asejere contested and lost to Fadeyi. Many politicians in that position would have walked away in anger, but Aare Ganiyu did not. He remained in the party, swallowed the disappointment, and threw his full weight into the mobilisation that delivered victory for Governor Ademola Adeleke in 2022. He repeated the same commitment in 2026, working tirelessly for the Governor’s re-election. At no point did he defect in search of a personal ticket; he stayed, served, and mobilised the grassroots.
Politics teaches a simple lesson: you cannot chase two mice at the same time and expect to come home with one. Political loyalty should not be a seasonal garment that politicians wear only when they need a ticket.
If Ajagunla feels betrayed by APC leadership, the people of Osun Central must also look beyond the drama. They must ask who has demonstrated consistency, loyalty, and genuine commitment over time. Aare Ganiyu Ayobami Olaoluwa Asejere has presented himself as that figure – a man who lost a primary yet refused to abandon the larger cause, a man who remained loyal to the progressive family and to the mobilisation of ordinary voters for Adeleke’s successive victories.
The best response to political betrayal is not endless complaints or back-and-forth statements. It is the sober verdict of the people at the ballot box.
For Osun Central, 2027 must therefore be about choosing the candidate who has shown consistent representation, accountability to the constituency, and commitment beyond personal ambition. Aare Ganiyu Ayobami Olaoluwa Asejere has earned the right to be that choice. His supporters correctly see in him a leader who places collective interest above self.
Ajagunla’s latest revelations may explain his personal grievances, but they also force a hard look at the consequences of changing platforms in pursuit of accommodation. Aare Ganiyu’s path offers a different example: stay, serve, and remain accountable to the people who matter most.
At the end of the day, political power belongs to the people, and Osun Central must decide who truly deserves its mandate. The record of loyalty, service, and grassroots commitment points clearly to Aare Ganiyu Ayobami Olaoluwa Asejere.
