…Says Same Southern President That Has Brought Nothing But Hardship Should Not Be Re-elected
The Founder and Convener of Obailukan Strategic Support Group for Atiku (OSSAT), Hon. Toyin Anibire Adams aka Obailukan, who hails from Owo Township, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State and an ADC chieftain, has lambasted former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani over his call for Atiku Abubakar to step aside for Southern candidates in 2027. He described Sani’s statement as hypocritical, self-serving and disconnected from the reality of Nigerians.
The reaction follows comments by Shehu Sani on Nigerian political affairs, where he argued that Atiku should not contest in 2027 and that the presidency should remain in the South, listing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Peter Obi, Omoyele Sowore, Seyi Makinde, Adewole Adebayo and Donald Duke as those who should contest.
Reacting through his media office, Obailukan said: “You are talking from the other side of your mouth. Senator Shehu Sani is speaking from both sides of his mouth. When it favours him, he talks about equity, when it does not, he talks about constitution. You cannot use equity to punish one man and use constitution to defend another.”
Obailukan queried why a Southern presidency that has brought nothing but hardship, hunger, job losses and unbearable cost of living should be rewarded with another four years. “The same Southern President that has brought nothing but hardship to the land should be returned and re-elected again? Nigerians are buying fuel at over N1,000, a bag of rice at over N100,000, naira has collapsed, businesses have closed. Is this the equity Shehu Sani is talking about? Is hardship now equitable? Hardship is not an achievement to be rewarded.”
He maintained that Nigerians, not regional sentiments, will decide who leads them in 2027 and that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar remains the most competent, experienced and prepared to rescue Nigeria. “Atiku Abubakar did not create hunger in Nigeria. Atiku did not remove subsidy without plan. Atiku did not float the naira without cushion. Let Nigerians decide. If the South has performed, let them go to the polls with their scorecard, not with blackmail about 2031.”
“The North should have an unchallengeable right in 2031 – who told him North needs his permission in 2031? Power belongs to Nigerians. Atiku will contest if he wishes, and we in the South-West under OSSAT are mobilizing 6 million votes for him because we are tired of hardship that knows no tribe.” He urged Senator Shehu Sani to apologize to Nigerians for supporting failure in the name of rotation.
