…Urges Wike to learn from Osun election as it humbled invincible structures
Hon. Toyin Anibire Adams (aka Obailukan), the Founder and Convener of Obailukan Strategic Support Group for Atiku (OSSAT), has cautioned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, over what he described as “dangerous overconfidence” and attempts to override the sovereign will of Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Thursday in London, Obailukan was reacting to Wike’s declaration in Port Harcourt, where the FCT Minister said: “You want me to fold my hands for Atiku to win? No way!” Wike also described himself as the “General Commander of the Political Infantry” and said he owes both Rivers State and the FCT as a political debt to President Bola Tinubu.
Obailukan stated that while every Nigerian has the right to support a candidate, it is dangerous for a sitting Minister to speak as if he can override the will of the people.
“The lesson from Osun is clear: political power does not last forever. Structures once considered invincible were humbled by the electorate. In Osun, despite threats, the people came out in large numbers and defended their mandate. The same will happen across the country in 2027. 2027 belongs to the electorate, not to political bullies. The ballot is stronger than any threat,” he said.
He added that in politics, power is rented, not owned.
“The same political structures supporting him today can disappear tomorrow if the people decide they have had enough. He should remember that he does not owe President Tinubu more than personal political loyalty. The votes belong to the people, not to godfathers,” he noted.
Obailukan also criticized the record of the Tinubu administration in the last three years, citing unprecedented hardship, rising inflation, and the collapse of businesses following the removal of fuel subsidy without adequate palliatives.
“Insecurity has worsened. Banditry, kidnapping, and violent crimes continue to make communities unsafe. Workers’ welfare is in a comatose state, and the promised new minimum wage remains unrealized while the cost of living keeps rising. There is no clear direction on jobs, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment. A government that has brought this level of suffering cannot ask Nigerians for another mandate,” he said.
“Governance is being sacrificed for politics. Instead of delivering infrastructure and services in the FCT, public office is being used as a campaign platform. This only deepens public frustration,” he added.
He urged Nigerians to remain peaceful but vigilant.
“2027 should be about Nigeria’s future, not chest-thumping. The people are battling inflation, insecurity, and a cost-of-living crisis. The elections must focus on jobs, security, education, healthcare, and judicial reform. Leadership must be earned through performance, not arrogance,” he stated.
“What Nigeria needs in 2027 is liberation and a reset. The people of Port Harcourt, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, and indeed all of Nigeria are tired of hardship, broken promises, and intimidation. Do not be intimidated. Come out to vote and protect your vote. The people will decide. Nigeria needs bridge-builders, not bullies. That leader is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. In 2027, the only way forward is to vote for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, ADC. He is the bridge-builder who can take Nigeria to the Promised Land,” he concluded.
