The recent comments credited to Senator Francis Ade Fadahunsi, claiming that Governor Ademola Adeleke lacks capacity to govern and cannot be re-elected, are unfortunate. They reflect political desperation, propaganda, and misinformation.
It is surprising that a politician who recently abandoned his former party for personal survival now seeks relevance by attacking a governor whose performance has earned widespread commendation across Osun State.
To claim that Governor Adeleke lacks intellectual capacity is disrespectful to his office and insulting to the millions of Osun people who gave him their mandate. Leadership is measured by vision, results, empathy, and impact on citizens’ lives, not by empty rhetoric or certificates alone.
In less than three years, Governor Adeleke has shown strong leadership through massive infrastructure development, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, rehabilitation of schools and health centres, rural development projects, and a people-first approach that has restored public confidence in government.
The governor Senator Fadahunsi now ridicules is the same leader whose popularity and political goodwill contributed to the electoral success of many politicians, including the senator, in the last election cycle. Osun people have not forgotten.
It is also worth recalling that the political party Senator Fadahunsi now belongs to governed Osun for twelve years and left behind serious challenges: unpaid entitlements, abandoned projects, and governance that prioritized politics over citizens’ welfare. For anyone from that background to lecture Osun on good governance is ironic.
Senator Fadahunsi confidently declared that Governor Adeleke cannot win re-election. This raises a basic question: Is the senator now an electoral umpire? Is he INEC? Has he assumed the duty of deciding election results for Osun voters?
The answer is clear. The power to choose who governs Osun rests solely with the people, not with politicians who switch parties to suit personal ambition.
As August 15 approaches, Osun people will again make their voices heard. The governor’s performance will outweigh political propaganda, and voters will judge based on facts, not bitterness.
Senator Fadahunsi should focus more on his own political future than on Governor Adeleke’s prospects. The electorate is more politically aware now. Every official will be judged by performance, credibility, and commitment to the people.
The 2026 election will not be decided by press statements or grandstanding. It will be decided by the people’s verdict.
When Governor Ademola Adeleke is returned elected by Osun voters, Senator Fadahunsi and others who predicted his failure will have no choice but to respect democracy.
As the saying goes, ‘when the rain falls, everyone will see whose roof leaks’.
Osun is patiently waiting for that moment.
We will see who celebrates victory and who stands exposed after the 2026 governorship election.
The people will decide. Their verdict is final.
