…The integrity of the Osun governorship election is under threat, and ASA – Advocacy for Strategic Alliance – will not remain silent.

We have reviewed disturbing reports alleging that the Osun APC, through its leadership at the Ileri Oluwa campaign office, has initiated moves to compel the Resident Electoral Commissioner to selectively purge names from the voters’ register. The purported design involves the removal of a large number of Accord members while making the deletions appear as system errors. If true, this is not strategy. It is sabotage.

ASA states without ambiguity that the people of Osun will not accept any attempt to corrupt the voters’ register. Elections derive legitimacy from an accurate register. Tampering with it strikes at the heart of democracy and violates both the spirit and letter of the Electoral Act 2022.

We reject this plot in its entirety. Osun voters have repeatedly shown that they can identify, expose, and defeat electoral manipulation. The history of the state is one of resilience against intimidation and fraud. That history will not change in 2026.

ASA hereby demands:

1. Immediate public clarification from INEC and the Osun REC on the allegations, including the status of all recent changes to the voters’ register.

2. Full disclosure of the audit trail of the register to party agents, observers, and civil society groups before August 15.

3. Proactive intervention by security agencies to ensure that no public office is used to intimidate voters or distort the electoral process.

4. Vigilance from Osun citizens, who should verify their registration status and report any discrepancies through official INEC channels.

To those contemplating this scheme: stop. Any official who participates in partisan manipulation will bear personal and legal responsibility. No directive, no meeting, and no pressure can override the law.

The choice on August 15 belongs to the people of Osun, not to any political office or party secretariat. ASA will monitor, document, and act on any attempt to subvert that choice.

Osun’s democracy is not for sale, and it will not be deleted.

Signed:
