The Osun State Civil Society Matters Committee of the Imole Campaign Council has condemned in its entirety the endorsement of APC governorship candidate Ambo by a faceless group parading as the “Osun Workers Union.” The stunt was shameful, deceptive, and has no legitimacy.
This performance was staged by political jobbers who have no mandate to speak for Osun workers. They do not represent us. They never have. They never will.
What happened was not an endorsement. It was a scripted, funded media stunt by a proxy group whose loyalty is to whoever pays, not to Osun workers, not to the people of Osun, and not to the facts. These individuals traded credibility and the collective memory of struggling workers for short-term gain from Ambo’s camp.
Let this be clear: No credible Osun worker will endorse Ambo. Not now. Not ever. Here’s why.
Osun workers don’t have the luxury of amnesia. We remember the APC era. We lived it. Many are still recovering from it.
That period meant months of unpaid salaries, families going hungry, kids out of school over unpaid fees, and pensioners dying while waiting for gratuities that never arrived. Workers showed up, did the job, and went home empty-handed. It was a government that treated civil servants as liabilities, not assets.
That’s the Egypt they’re asking workers to return to. The idea that the same people who endured that system would line up to restore it is absurd and insulting. It’s a lie wrapped in a union banner.
No well-meaning Osun worker will vote to go back. Not after seeing what governance looks like when workers are actually valued.
Under Governor Ademola Adeleke, things changed. Salaries are paid. Worker welfare is prioritized. Dignity is being restored after years of neglect. In just over two years, this administration has shown that government can be humane, that workers aren’t disposable after elections, and that people-first governance works in practice, not just in slogans.
Osun workers aren’t ungrateful, and we’re not naive. We know who showed up for us and who abandoned us. We know the difference between a government that serves and one that exploits. We’ll show that at the ballot box.
To the proxy group masquerading as a union: your endorsement is rejected. Your stunt is noted. The people of Osun will respond at the polls.
Osun workers know better. And we’ll do better again.
