The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, has strongly criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over severe delays in the voting process, describing the situation as “useless” and “sad for democracy in Nigeria.”
Speaking to journalists at his polling unit, a visibly frustrated Oluyede raised concerns about the slow pace of accreditation and voting, noting that only five people had managed to cast their ballots over a period of one and a half hours.
The PDP governorship candidate alleged that, despite repeated calls to INEC technical support officers to resolve the issues, no assistance had arrived after more than 45 minutes, leading him to suspect systemic failures in the electoral process.
Beyond the technical glitches, Dr. Oluyede leveled serious allegations against security agencies deployed for the election, claiming that an “army of policemen” was actively harassing and intimidating voters near the polling centre.Pointing down the road, he alleged that law enforcement personnel were using force to create an atmosphere of fear. He added that he had gathered concrete evidence of the alleged misconduct and would present it at the appropriate time.

Despite his grievances regarding the delays and the conduct of security personnel, Oluyede expressed confidence that his supporters would remain peaceful and resilient.
He also maintained optimism that the will of the people would ultimately prevail in the election.
