I totally repudiate the reckless and baseless allegation by the Coalition for Osun Development (COD) that Afrobeats icon, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is using his convoy to transport arms for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Let the public be fully aware: Hon. David Adeleke is the Chairman, Youth Mobilization for The Imole Campaign Council. It is his constitutional duty to move across Osun State to engage, sensitize, and mobilize youths ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Since his arrival, his message has been one, and only one: “VOTE NOT FIGHT”. He has been preaching peace, voter education, and non-violence before, during, and after the election. There is no room for arms in a campaign built on peace.
The very first allegation raised by COD shows the degree and level of their partisanship in the political atmosphere of Osun State. A responsible civil society group is expected to present concrete evidence to back up any allegation. It is clear that this allegation by COD is nothing but a deliberate attempt to cause distraction for the people and electorate of Osun State.
Without any concrete evidence to back up this allegation, COD has no moral standing to dabble in Osun politics. Nigerians want to see proof, not politically induced accusations. Show the arms. Show the vehicles. Show the recipients.
Until then, we urge the Nigeria Police Force and all security operatives to act professionally and not lend credence to unverified allegations. Security agencies should not be used as tools for political blackmail.
The Accord Party remains committed to peace, harmony, and a credible election on August 15, 2026.
