LONDON — Arsenal Football Club has been crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years, sparking wild celebrations across North London.

The historic title was officially secured following a 1-1 draw between closest challengers Manchester City and Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

The result leaves the reigning champions unable to catch Arsenal, handing Mikel Arteta’s side the trophy with one game to spare in the season.

‎The triumph marks the end of more than two decades of heartbreak and near-misses for the Gunners, whose last league title came during the legendary 2003/04 “Invincibles” campaign under Arsene Wenger.

Mikel Arteta, a former Arsenal midfielder himself, has etched his name into club folklore by becoming the first manager since Wenger to deliver English football’s biggest prize to the Emirates Stadium. The achievement also cements Arsenal’s 14th top-flight title in their history.

‎Arsenal’s successful campaign has been built on defensive resilience and remarkable consistency. Over the course of the 37 games played so far, the team has registered 25 victories while maintaining the best defensive record in the division.

A vital component of that success has been goalkeeper David Raya, who secured his third successive Golden Glove after a stellar campaign that featured 19 clean sheets.

‎The final push for the title culminated with a tense 1-0 victory over Burnley, putting immense pressure on Manchester City to win their remaining fixtures to keep the title race alive. When City stumbled to a draw on the south coast, the long wait for Arsenal fans finally came to an end.

Within minutes of the final whistle, thousands of ecstatic supporters flooded the streets around the Emirates Stadium, celebrating a moment a generation of fans had never seen.

Arsenal will officially lift the Premier League trophy on Sunday following their final match of the season against Crystal Palace.
