The Founder and Convener of Obailukan Strategic Support Group for Atiku (OSSAT) and ADC chieftain, Hon. Toyin Anibire Adams, popularly known as Obailukan, has challenged Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his group, the New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), to come clean on their alleged romance with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Obailukan stated this while addressing newsmen during an interview in London, describing Kwankwaso’s recent attacks on opposition leaders as needless and capable of weakening the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to the remarks earlier condemned by the African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC), Obailukan said Kwankwaso’s repeated attacks on opposition figures raise serious questions about his political direction and possible alignment with the ruling party.
“The development brings to mind the old adage, ‘If you can’t beat them, join them’,” Obailukan said, noting that some political actors who cannot challenge the ruling party are subtly gravitating towards it instead of strengthening the opposition.
He questioned why opposition leaders would engage in infighting at a time when Nigerians are yearning for a credible alternative, stressing that the focus should be on building a united and formidable platform capable of dislodging the APC, rather than engaging in divisive rhetoric. He further stressed that the quest for political change demands consistency, strategic collaboration and a clear vision, warning that internal divisions could jeopardize the opposition’s chances in 2027.
According to him, the only way to defeat an incumbent is for the opposition to come together as a united, indivisible force, just as it happened in 2015 when opposition parties united to defeat then President Goodluck Jonathan, adding that the historic coalition remains the blueprint for 2027 and any act capable of undermining it will only benefit the ruling party.
