The Advocacy for Strategic Alliance (ASA) has strongly condemned what it described as “reckless propaganda and desperate falsehood” by the All Progressives Congress in response to recent billboard vandalisation incidents in Osun State, accusing the opposition party of thriving on manipulation and misinformation.
In a reaction to a statement issued by the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, ASA said the opposition party had once again exposed what it called “the deceptive foundation upon which the APC political structure was built,” stressing that the party was attempting to mislead the public and distract from its dwindling relevance in the state.
The group noted that rather than addressing pressing concerns affecting the people of Osun, the APC had resorted to “wild allegations, character assassination and politically motivated narratives” targeted at Governor Ademola Adeleke and members of his administration.
According to ASA, the repeated attempt by the APC to link the state government and its associates to acts of violence and vandalism without credible evidence only reflects “a desperate strategy aimed at gaining public sympathy ahead of the 2026 governorship election.”
“The formation and existence of your party in Osun State has continually been sustained by falsehoods, manipulation and propaganda. Whenever the APC senses rejection from the people, it quickly resorts to fabricating stories and shifting blame instead of engaging in issue-based politics,” the group stated.
ASA described the allegations contained in the APC statement as inflammatory and capable of heating up the polity, warning political actors against promoting narratives capable of undermining peace and democratic stability in the state.
The group particularly faulted the APC over claims that some aides of Governor Adeleke were involved in criminal activities, insisting that such accusations should be left for security agencies and the courts to determine rather than being used as tools for political blackmail.
“The APC cannot continue to play the role of investigator, prosecutor and judge all at once simply because it is desperate for political relevance. If there are legitimate security concerns, there are constitutional institutions empowered to handle such matters,” ASA added.
The advocacy group also dismissed allegations linking members of the Adeleke family to internal violence and destruction of campaign materials, describing the claims as “laughable fiction crafted to attract media attention.”
ASA maintained that Governor Adeleke remains widely accepted across Osun State due to what it described as his people-oriented governance style, infrastructural development and grassroots connection with residents.
The group further accused the APC of attempting to rewrite history by portraying itself as a victim despite what it called the party’s “well-documented legacy of political intimidation and divisive politics” during its years in power in the state.
It urged political stakeholders to embrace responsible engagement and avoid inflammatory rhetoric capable of causing unnecessary tension among supporters.
