The Osogbo Accord Media Force (OAMF) has condemned the alleged use of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s name, image and the Accord identity on souvenirs and campaign materials being circulated by Hon. Ayodeji Abdulai Olaya, popularly known as Ayonic, the APC Osogbo State House of Assembly Candidate. OAMF said if established, such conduct is intolerable and capable of misleading the public about the true affiliation and source of the materials.

The group described the alleged act as an offence that should not be taken lightly, noting that impersonating another party’s identity and using Governor Adeleke’s name and image without authorization is capable of causing political confusion. OAMF demanded that Hon. Ayodeji Abdulai Olaya a.k.a. Ayonic should desist from circulating such materials, correct the anomaly, conduct his own proper branding and immediately withdraw the alleged offensive materials from the media space.

The group questioned why Hon. Ayodeji Abdulai Olaya a.k.a. Ayonic, an APC Osogbo State House of Assembly Candidate, would ride on the popularity of another political platform instead of selling his own party, record and manifesto to the people. It urged constituents not to be swayed by souvenirs and handouts, noting that gifts can never substitute for a verifiable record of service, character and commitment to the people.

OAMF challenged the people of Osogbo State Constituency to interrogate the antecedents of every candidate and ask what each has done for Osogbo before seeking a fresh mandate. In that regard, it pointed to Hon. Bamidele Rasheed, the Accord Osogbo State House of Assembly Candidate, as a sitting Honourable who has remained connected to the people of his constituency, who has been doing a tremendous job in making Osogbo State Constituency better than the way it has been before. He is a well-known and highly preferred candidate by the people of Osogbo State Constituency under the platform of Accord, a familiar face who has remained connected to his people and implemented verifiable empowerment programmes across the constituency. His consistent project has been the empowerment of the youth, women and farmers through verifiable empowerment schemes, a commitment he has sustained over time and is still doing for his people in Osogbo State Constituency.

“Politics should not be reduced to sharing souvenirs to deceive people or to gain votes in an inappropriate way. The people deserve to know who has stood with them consistently, what programmes have been executed, and what impact can be independently verified,” OAMF stated.

The group warned political actors to desist from actions capable of creating confusion through the unauthorized use of another leader’s name and image, and called on the people of Osogbo to remain politically conscious, verify every claim, and judge all candidates strictly on facts and track records.
