…If the North is now openly demanding a new political direction ahead of 2027, then the Southwest must also be allowed to speak
A recent analysis by northern analyst Hamma Hayatu that the North has accepted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its preferred candidate for 2027 has shifted the national conversation. Whether one agrees with that assessment or not, it clearly shows that Nigerians are re-evaluating their political future.
That re-evaluation cannot be limited to one region.
The hardship confronting Nigeria today does not discriminate. The rising cost of food, fuel, transport, and basic survival is felt in Sokoto as much as it is felt in Ibadan, Lagos, Akure, Abeokuta, Ado-Ekiti, and Osogbo. A market woman in Oyo and a civil servant in Kano go to the same market of hardship.
This is the reality that the Obailukan Strategic Support Group for Atiku (OSSAT) believes must change the narrative in the Southwest.
According to its Founder and Convener, Hon. Toyin Anibire Adams a.k.a Obailukan, if a political wind of change is blowing in the North, the Southwest has even more reason to interrogate the future. The Southwest is not a conquered territory for any party. It is home to over 40 million politically sophisticated Nigerians who vote based on performance, not permanent loyalty.
For years, the assumption has been that the Southwest is locked. But 2027 will not be about regional ownership of a candidate. It will be about who can rescue the economy, restore purchasing power, secure lives, and give Nigerians hope again.
Atiku’s camp has already shown it is not limiting its strategy to the North. Its claim of growing support in the South, including projections in the Southwest, proves that the 2027 contest is becoming truly national. The ADC, as a coalition platform, is now positioning itself as the alternative for Nigerians tired of the present hardship.
President Bola Tinubu will seek a second term, and that puts his record squarely before the people. Nigerians will be asking one simple question: Are we better off than we were?
For Hon. Toyin Anibire Adams a.k.a Obailukan, the answer to that question in the Southwest is clear. That is why OSSAT is expanding aggressively across the six Southwest states — Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti — with a clear mandate to deliver Six Million Votes for Atiku Abubakar.
This is not just about politics. It is about changing the direction of 2027 from ethnic calculation to competence and relief.
If the North can speak, the Southwest must also speak. If Nigerians want to break free from hardship, that voice must be national.
Hardship knows no tribe. The solution must also know no tribe.
