In the political landscape of Osun State, one thing has become glaringly obvious: the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has taken remorselessness to its highest level. I have watched with dismay as the APC continues to exhibit a shocking lack of conscience despite the clear signals from the people.

Despite a series of attacks, threats, and intimidation, the Osun APC persists in its ways. They believe they have the backing that shields them from accountability. This stems from their painful awareness that they have lost the passion, love, and sympathy of the good people of Osun State. In their desperation, they appear to have concluded that the best way to turn the people against Governor Ademola Adeleke is to inflict pain on the electorate through various acts of disruption and provocation.

Even with the timely intervention of the Nigerian Police Force under the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, the Osun APC has failed woefully to show any remorse. They remain unrepentant, emboldened by what they perceive as federal might. This false sense of invincibility has led them to believe they can continue to misbehave, inflict pain on innocent citizens, and still expect the people to support them. Nothing could be further from the truth.

This approach is not the best way to practice democracy or win votes. In fact, it sends a loud and clear message to the people of Osun: the Osun APC is not the government of the people. All they represent is a government of tyranny, deceit, and selfishness. Their actions reveal a desperate attempt to cling to power through coercion rather than genuine connection with the masses.

Come August 15, the Osun APC will become a thing of the past. They will not see the light of day again in Osun State. They will be forgotten and discarded by the electorate who have seen through their antics. Governor Ademola Adeleke, on the other hand, stands as the true government of the people. His commitment to the welfare of Osun residents is evident, and he will be declared winner for a second term in a landslide victory that reflects the will of the people.

The time has come for the good people of Osun to reject this culture of impunity and stand firmly with leadership that prioritizes peace, progress, and the collective good. Osun deserves better, and on August 15, we will choose progress over tyranny.

Signed:
Comrade James Onifade
Advocate for Good Governance and Judicial Reform
