The Osun State Civil Society Matters of Imole Campaign Council, OSCSMC, has raised concerns over alleged plans to manipulate the forthcoming Osun governorship election through the purported use of PVCs belonging to deceased voters, uncollected voter cards, and cloned or compromised BVAS devices.
In a statement issued by its Media Unit, the OSCSMC Boss, Hon. Funmiso Babarinde, charged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Osun State to uphold transparency and protect the integrity of the electoral process before, during, and after the August 15, 2026 poll.
According to Hon. Babarinde, “INEC’s obligation is to remain unbiased, impartial, and non-manipulative at every stage of the election. The people of Osun must be assured that their votes will count and that the process will be free from interference or compromise.”
He noted that if the allegations are true, such actions would undermine the credibility of the election and deny Osun people the right to freely choose their leaders. He added that the allegations, if substantiated, must be thoroughly investigated by the appropriate authorities.
Hon. Babarinde further urged Osun voters to remain vigilant, protect the sanctity of their votes, and report any suspicious activities to relevant security agencies and accredited election observers. He stressed that the integrity of the election is a collective responsibility and that every lawful vote must count.
“No individual or political party should be allowed to subvert the will of the people through electoral malpractice,” he stated.
INEC, he said, must resist all forms of political pressure, avoid any perception of partisanship or selective enforcement, and act strictly as an unbiased umpire. “Any deviation will erode public trust and put the credibility of the August 15 election in jeopardy,” he warned.
The OSCSMC Boss concluded that Osun people deserve a free, fair, transparent, and credible election, and called on INEC to ensure that its conduct before, during, and after the poll reflects the highest standards of integrity.
