There was tension in Osogbo after some angry supporters of AbdulKabiru Ajisope reportedly stormed his campaign office following the outcome of the APC primary election.
The supporters were said to be unhappy with the result of the exercise and reacted by pulling down party billboards in parts of the area. Videos and comments shared online showed damaged campaign materials as the situation caused reactions among residents and political observers.
The development has stirred conversations on social media, with many people expressing surprise that members of the same party were involved in destroying APC billboards.
The incident is believed to be linked to dissatisfaction among Ajisope’s supporters over the primary process and the final result announced by the party. So far, there has been no official statement from the APC leadership in Osogbo regarding the action of the supporters.
The situation has also added to growing discussions about internal disagreements within political parties ahead of future elections.
The APC governorship primary in Osun had already generated tension before the latest incident, as security was tightened around the exercise held in Osogbo. Reports said over 1,600 delegates participated in the primary while security operatives were deployed across the venue to prevent violence and maintain order.
Political disagreements over campaign materials and billboards have also become a major issue in Osun ahead of the 2026 governorship election. In recent weeks, both the APC and supporters of Governor Ademola Adeleke have traded accusations over destruction of campaign billboards across Osogbo and other parts of the state.
Ajisope himself had earlier called for unity within the APC after the governorship primary and praised efforts to prevent crisis in the party. He also congratulated APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji and urged members to work together ahead of the election.
The latest development is expected to increase concerns among party leaders over possible divisions within the APC as preparations continue for future political contests in Osun State.
