The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has once again displayed its characteristic desperation and moral bankruptcy. In a recent press statement, the party had the audacity to ask what Governor Ademola Adeleke has been doing for the past three years since police officers in the state are yet to receive operational vehicles. This is not just cheap politicking; it is a wicked and calculated attempt to distort reality and mislead the good people of Osun.
Let me be blunt: the APC knows exactly why the governor has not yet fully executed this important security project. The reason is simple and glaring. The local government allocations that rightfully belong to Osun State have been illegally seized and withheld by the federal government, using the full weight of federal might under APC control. Where exactly does the APC expect Governor Adeleke to source money for police vehicles when the very resources meant for state and local development have been diverted and withdrawn through orchestrated federal interference?
This seizure is not an administrative error. In my considered opinion, it is a deliberate, well-planned strategy to sabotage the good governance agenda of Governor Adeleke and to cripple every meaningful project aimed at the progress and betterment of Osun citizens. One of the clear plans on the ground was to equip the Osun Police Command with operational vehicles to enhance security, improve rapid response, and make our communities safer. That initiative has been deliberately frustrated by the same people now shamelessly pointing accusing fingers.
The APC’s wickedness is laid bare for all to see. They used federal power to seize and illegally withdraw the funds that would have been used to buy those vehicles. Now, they turn around and demand to know why the vehicles are not there.
This is the height of hypocrisy and heartlessness. It shows how little regard the APC has for the security and welfare of the people of Osun. They create the problem through financial strangulation and then politicise the resulting challenge to score cheap points.
In my view, this latest attack is part of a broader, sinister plot to “encapsulate” that is, to completely box in and undermine the impressive strides Governor Adeleke is making despite the severe financial constraints imposed on his administration. Rather than appreciating the resilience and prudent management demonstrated by the governor in the face of such adversity, the APC prefers to play politics with the lives and safety of our people.
The good people of Osun are intelligent and discerning. They can see through this desperate game. They know who is genuinely working for the development and security of the state and who is busy deploying federal instruments to pull Osun backward.
Governor Adeleke has continued to deliver dividends of democracy in critical sectors even under these difficult conditions. The APC, on the other hand, has nothing to offer except recycled propaganda and sabotage.
It is high time the APC stopped politicising security issues in Osun State. Security is not a partisan affair. The lives of our citizens should not be toyed with for political advantage.
The party owes the people of Osun an apology for this shameless display of wickedness and should, instead, use its influence at the federal level to ensure that the illegally seized local government funds are released to enable the state government to execute critical projects, including the provision of vehicles for our police officers.
Enough of the hypocrisy. Enough of the sabotage. The people of Osun deserve better than this kind of petty, destructive opposition.
